Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development has challenged artistes to come up with innovative ideas that will ensure that their music becomes relevant to all stakeholders.
By so doing Tshekedi Khama said government would then be able to support them.
He said this during a meet and greet session with one of the budding artiste, Kgotso Siska aka Larry Don Captain, who is into the rap genre.
Khama further assured the artistes that he was committed to ensuring that they reap the rewards of their hard work.
Also, he urged artistes to avail their work on different online platforms, where multitudes would be able hear and see what they could offer.
That, he said would help government in her effort to brand the country.
He further highlighted that the ministry would do everything possible to ensure that shortcomings at the ministry were addressed adding that age disparity between artistes and officials were some of the challenges that made it hard for some to come up with economically and viable projects.
Khama also encouraged Larry Don Captain to reward his parents with good behaviour since they had allowed him to pursue his passion. He made him aware that there would be obstacles ahead such as bad influence from peers and as such, he advised him to always be ready to made informed decisions.
For his part, Mogoditshane legislator, Sedirwa Kgoroba also warned the young artiste not to be drunk with fame, saying most artistes worldwide, had uined their careers because they failed to make good decisions when it mattered the most.
He said the industry could be ruthless and so artistes should make informed decisions and interact with the right people all the time. ENDS
