Date My Family Botswana show kicks off

23 Jul 2019

Date My Family Botswana debuted last week.

The show aims to assist those unlucky in finding love by showing them singletons available through dates with potential partner’s friends and family.

The fate of one’s potential lover or partner lies in the families or friends’ hands.

In the first episode, the families/friends seemed to be familiar with the bachelor George Morris and from the word go the show sparked amusement as even the questions asked by one of the first families’ Winx’s, were not so serious to maybe get the singleton to come back.

The show was perhaps a modern day version of an arranged marriage, only this time it was not about parents from both families knowing each other and deciding on their children’ future.

Both the family/friends and potential date get to see the singleton.

However, the singleton would not see the potential date until the time he/she made a choice.

With the no nonsense serious and sometimes just amusing and humorous questions they ask, the family/friends were able to gauge the singleton, who would potentially pick their friend or child.

These reality shows could also in a way serve differently for the singletons’ and potentials’ careers.

While others might truly be looking for love and to ultimately settle, others might be argued to be in the show for popularity and to boost their fan base.

Whilst this was a hilarious entertaining show, it could at the same time show the sad reality of being single.

Perhaps another aspect that made the show even more hysterical was the social media conversations about the singletons and potential dates.

While all participants bare their vulnerability on television, they forgot the wrath of social media and the ‘investigative skills’ that social media goonies used; which could reveal the truth about what singletons claimed about their lives.

Social media platforms went abuzz on the number of children Morris declared on the show, and also disputed Winx’s claim of being single.

Date My Family Botswana airs on Channel 162 DSTV every Thursday at 21h30, and the maiden season will have 13 episodes. ENDS
