22 May 2019

Motswako artist Kux’s latest single 'Fatshe leno' is likely to catapult him to stardom, owing to massive airplay both on local radio stations and social media platforms.

The single, which is derived from the national anthem lyrics, is from the six-track EP titled ‘That’s me’ which is set to be released this year.

In an interview, the baritoned motswakalista said the single sampled the national anthem to express struggles and cries of youth in Botswana.

He said it speaks for those who cannot express their concerns, adding that he decided to drop the single now as national elections were approaching.

The 31-year-old, real name Kutlwano Mokgatla, is signed to Exclusive Media, which handles his publishing, recording, vocal mixing, recording, brand development, show organisation and general management.

To show his versatility, he appeared on the Warzone Battlerap, where he performed exceptionally well, being one of the few battlerappers to be victorious on their first appearance.

Exclusive Media aims to make Kux a brand, as he has gained exposure locally and internationally.

Kux said he started music at the age of 11 as he was inspired by his friend Motswako Makaveli and they became part of hip hop/motswako group called Zone 5.

Their track titled ‘I kicks it’ was recorded by Young Sluggz, produced by Motswako Makaveli and that was when he interacted with the likes of KEB, Zeus and SambaT, who are still some of his inspirations in the industry.

He officially started his solo career when he was schooling in Johannesburg.

He said he is looking forward to collaborate with some few artists among them; ATI, Amantle Brown, Noello, Drama Boy, Sasa Klaus, Orackle and Bouncey.

He said he once collaborated with Apollo Diablo in 2010.

Kux said he is ready and to strive in the music industry as music is his passion. ENDS
