MC Theo mesmerises revelers
06 May 2019
An MC can make or break an event therefore it is critical that for every occasion, the right person, with something different to offer, be picked for the job.
An MC is the heart and soul of any event as he/she is the one who gets revelers out of their seats onto the dance floor.
Successful MCs are those known for adding humor, comedy, character impersonation to their repertoire in order to liven up the event.
Molepolole born, 22-year-old Motheo Kgoreletso known as MC Theo in the entertainment industry circles, is one such MC whose energy on stage is both mesmerising and commanding.
Discovered by Dj Lady K, MC Theo says his career started off in 2016 at the annual Makgasa Party in Molepolole and thereafter became a resident at Dros Restaurant as well as at Tlotlo Hotel and Conference Centre.
But for MC Theo, the big one was Sunday Ultimate Chill in Gabane where he is now resident.
Sunday Ultimate Chill is a picnic session held every first Sunday of the month with a variety of entertainment as well as food and beverages.
An MC, he says, should be creative with the ability to think on his/her feet as events such as picnic Sundays do not need scripting.
MC Theo has proved to be more than just an individual on a microphone at an event but a professional who always displays great sense of responsibility to ensure the event goes smoothly.
He says he connects with the audience through his catchy phrases, some of which he said were inspired by listening to other industry players such as RB2’s T.H.A.B.O.
MC Theo stresses the importance of the relationship between the MC and the Dj at a particular event saying communication between the two is what prompts the crowd to get off their chairs.
He further says there is much more to being an MC than just being an extremely jovial person noting that one also needs to be in sync with the songs played.
“As an MC, you can not just chip in whilst the songs are played; but you need to have the skill to know when and how to do it,” he said noting that some songs were just meant to play until the end while others were easy to interrupt.
His personality and character, coupled with confidence and boldness on stage, has opened many doors for the MC who has had a chance to host one of the Durban picnics, something he said he would ever be grateful for because it would open even greater doors.
His advice to young aspiring MCs is to be courageous, determined and bold in whatever they wish to achieve adding that hard work pays.
He also advised them to believe in themselves, to be positive and to exercise patience as recognition in the entertainment industry could not come overnight.
MC Theo’s ultimate goal is to penetrate the radio and television space and engage more in corporate gigs. ENDS
