The Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST) has celebrated and honoured the authorship of some scholarly books produced by 10 experts from the institution. 

Eight of the experts from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology and two from the Faculty of Sciences penned their signatures on the books together with BUIST Vice Chancellor, Professor Otlogetswe Totolo. 

When giving salutations at the launch of the books, Prof. Totolo said the authoring of the books was an acknowledgement of the reality that knowledge sharing was a very important constituent of today’s fast moving information-led economy. 

He said the university encouraged sharing of research and scholarly investigations through different forms and platforms like seminar, public lectures, journals and book publications. 

“This book launch showcasing work authored by the university’s teaching and research staff is one of society’s greatest empowerment,” he said adding that it was a unique and scholarly engagement that would go on for as long as books were available and accessible to different users in the community. 

Professor Totolo said the scope coverage in the books presented cover current topical issues like wireless communication networks, LTE-A cellular networks, smart manufacturing and nono-engineering. 

“One of the books on ‘Soil Proverbs’ gives insight about philosophy and culture and the lives of people of the world as they relate to soil,” he said.

He added  that another notable example was one of the publications with subject coverage of bio-mechatronics products, which brought elements of biological systems. 

He commended the experts for the hard work they put in compiling the books in past years. ENDS
