African traditional gospel sensation, Babogedi Keromilwe alias Keromilwe Ke Modimo (KKM) will host his first live performance dubbed One Night with Keromilwe Ke Modimo on April 13 at Tsholofelo Community Hall in Gaborone.
Speaking in an interview, KKM said his upcoming show was a platform for him to perform his music that mainly entails 24 songs, four of which were adopted from local artists while the rest were his original compositions and a few hymns.
He said his music was unique as he focussed on catering for traditional gospel lovers and traditional music fans yet maintaining the message of Christ and ensuring it reached the masses.
“I choose this genre and remain my focus, and I am willing to work overtime sensitising Batswana that culture and Christianity are not enemies. That anything traditional is not necessarily evil because we listen and love international music, for instance. I know many enjoy rock gospel, dance hall and other gospel genres, mind you those artists are actually portraying their culture and we buy it,” he explained.
Moreover, he said he would be performing alongside Sua Pan, the prominent contemporary Segaba player, to put more emphasis on the Setswana traditional feel, adding that he and the rest of his team were prepared and ready to fascinate and minister to those who would attend.
Keromilwe ke Modimo further said tickets for the event were available on request through his Keromilwe ke Modimo Muzik Facebook Page as well as at his varied point of sales where he does activations to promote the show.
He also said that he intended to release a single prior to the event to give Batswana a chance to hear before hand his capability and leave them in anticipation for the big day.
In addition, he said many knew him as the founder, lead singer and song writer for Voice of Angel Worshippers a gospel group that released its debut album titled Moment of Reconciliation with a popular track Morena o intshwaretse airing mainly on RB1 and Duma FM.
He shared that his recent musical highlight was his callbacks for the South African Tshwane Gospel Choir Callbacks where he gave his best performance, and still awaiting feedback on whether he made it into the elite choir and would give breather performances at the ongoing Chankieland and Maitisong’s Season of Worship Gospel Live Recording.
