Simmy disappoints revellers
03 Mar 2019
African Attire on Fleek Picnic event did not end well as South African act, Simmy did not turn up.
While the organisers of the event, which was hosted for the first time at Bojanala Waterfront on Saturday, came up with new game plan to stand out among other events, it was the non-appearance of Simmy, which nearly spoilt their hard work as music revellers threw bottles around. The organisers allowed cooler boxes for free so as to attract the attention of the revellers.
Even though there were few glitches, which delayed the start of the event, the venue was packed to the rafters and revellers were clad in their African attires.
When Dr Vom of Tsaya Thobana fame took to the stage, the crowd went wild and sang along with him.
The DJs also kept revellers entertained with their smashing hits. Local acts also upped their their A game and gave music enthusiasts a memorable event.
Lizibo, who has proven to be a big enough star to headline a show on his own, lightened up the event with his dance moves and stage presence keeping his fans glued to the stage.
Despite Simmy’s no show, the event impressed patrons.
“What I really liked is that revellers really adhered to the theme and dressed accordingly in their African attires,” said Thuso Palai of Botswana Investment and Trade Centre.
He said he was impressed with the show.
However, he indicated that all the organisers’ good work done was undone by the non-appearance of the main act adding that organisers also failed to offer an explaination for her no show.
Another reveller, Ashanti Motlhanke said although the show was too packed with no space to maneuver around, it was impressive. She advised organisers to sell tickets according to the numbers that could be accomodated at the venue. ENDS
