Boom Shaka headlines Waar Was Jy Festival

After years of not performing in Botswana, South African music group Boom Shaka is set to perform at the Waar Was Jy Oldie Series today, at the Stanbic Molapo Piazza in Gaborone.
Speaking in an interview, promoter of the Waar Was Jy Entertainment, Lecco Kenosi said Boom Shaka was happy to return, and that music revellers should expect a great performance from them, even without Lebo Mathosa, whom they lost in 2006.
He revealed that the festival would also include another South African Kwaito artist, Kabelo Mabalane, better known as Bouga Luv, who is expected to entertain with hits like Pantsula for Life, Zonke, Amapuntsula Ajabulile and Love me or leave me alone.
One of the legends in the Kwaito genre, Thabo Ntirang, popularly known as Mapetla, would also take back people to his heydays with hits like Aah, Jorotane and others. Kenosi further pointed out that the festival started in 2015 and has brought performances by Trompies and Yvonne Chaka Chaka amongst others at Botswana Craft.
He said their main objective was to take music enthusiasts down memory lane and reminisce about the songs they used to dance to and also donate some of their proceeds to worthy causes.
“Last year we managed to donate several items like computers and a cheque of P35 000 to the Botswana Society for the Deaf in Gaborone, and this time around we intend to help Bokamoso Junior Secondary School in Gaborone,” noted Kenosi. Tickets for the festival are found at Liquorama stores around Gaborone and going for P300.ENDS
