26 Feb 2019

Seasoned Rumba Kwasa Kwasa artist, Chakalisa Mongwa aka Lumiere has released a single titled Eternal Moto, backed by Orchestra LXG band.

In an interview, the 36-year-old Lumiere, who hails from Marapong, said his passion for music dated back to 2001 while schooling at Mater Spei College where he was part of the school band.

“Our band was the hottest in town,” said the Serowe-based musician. His love for music continued until he persued the profession in 2013 where he released his debut titled Sedzela Pandili,  a Kalanga wording meaning come closer.

Since his entry into the music scene he has three albums to his name, and in 2017 he decided to work on Eternal Moto single to keep his fans on their toes. “An inspiration was nurtured by the late lead guitarist friend Olemogile Tsholofelo, who went by the stage name, Olisher Solo Lion King to work on this project,” Lumiere noted.

The title track Eternal Moto means internal fire and is sang in Lingala, a language from the DRC where the music genre originates. Lumiere added that a new flavour to his music has been introduced to give people a different vibe and melody that makes one to quench their taste buds for Kwasa Kwasa.

The single has two bonus tracks namely Orchestra LXG,  which appreciates the band for their contribution and for working tirelessly in making the single possible, and it is in both Kalanga and Lingala.

Another track, Marrietta, which is about a dream of a certain mysterious woman he fell in love with called Marrieta, was done in Kalanga.

Lumiere said the single was dedicated to his late friend Olisher Solo Lion King who passed away while they were both working on it.

“Solo contributed a lot to this single with his time, creativity and I wanted to make it the best music signature in the industry,” he stated.

The single was recorded at WeBe Entertainment Studios.
