Poetic master minds lead by Kealeboga Mosekiemang of stage name Black Gypsy shines through their recently released contemporary jazz infused poetic debut album titled, Colorful
Black under the Word of Mouth group.
Speaking in an interview, Black Gypsy said Colorful Black was a product of a collective effort of nine local youth poets, who had a profound love for poetry and performing arts.
She said the 14-track album was released in December and had since been submitted to all radio stations. She said the song Ke A Tsamaya by Fundi Molebatsi is already enjoying airplay on RB1.
Black Gypsy said they were currently preparing for Colorful Black launch, which would be a platform for poetry and jazz lovers to experience the finest performance of all the nine artistes adding that they were yet to announce dates. The master piece is said to have been recorded at AMP-PREZ productions and mastered by Jay Ice Moji as well as Gordon Spryt.
Moreover, she said the intention of Word of Mouth was to bring together poets and make poetry a global collaboration as they intend to engage other African poets and feature them in Word of Mouth volume 2 that would be recorded in Botswana to make it known that there was potential in the country.
She said they were looking to at least sell over 50 000 copies of Colorful Black to finance volume 2. Mmakgosi Tau, who has two tracks in the ensemble, views Colorful Black as a good initiative citing that for a long time art had not been documented especially anthology, which she said were both rare and currently few.
She applauded Black Gypsy for the concept of grouping and producing their poems as they had been revived as artistes and got a chance to explore and publish their art work adding that she believes the album would touch lives.
