Some 29-years-ago, a comedian and entertainer by the name of Odirile Brooks was born in Tsabong.

Odirile also known as OD Brooks  has always loved comedy.

It is not surprising that upon finishing school, Brooks decided to take the entertainment route and started mentorship with a group called LAFF-A-LOT comedy in 2011.

He said the group used to visit places to perform.

In 2011, he took part in the President’s Day competitions and became top comedian amongst 20 acts and retained the same position in 2012.

After winning the competition, he said he was motivated to do more.

He mentioned that he had done comedy gigs both locally and internationally and performed alongside comedians such as Michael ‘Dignash’ Morapedi, Prince Macheng  among others.

Although he is mostly into comedy, he said believes in doing a variety of things adding that he at times, do emcees.

He is the founder of FARM BOY ENTERTAINMENT AND BROOKS COMEDY and a member of comedy association in Botswana as well as Botswana Music Union.

He said he had acted in a comedy series called Batlhaleng, which aired on Btv a while back, which he said was the start of something great.

He said sometimes the comedy industry was hard as there was a lot of competition and that rewards do not always come.

However, he said patience and passion for comedy had come in handy in such situations.

He said when one decides to get into comedy, they should know their style.

“It is good to know, get out and explore.

People are starting to like humour and you should do comedy that people understand.” Brooks said.

He advised the young ones to believe in themselves and work hard to put food on the table.

He said he wanted to do great things in his village, like mentoring young upcoming comedians.

He pointed out that he would also like to helpgrown the entertainment industry in his district to grow as it was at an all-time low at the moment.

Also, he said intends to organise music festivals and comedy events in his village. ENDS
