Mascom Wireless has donated P60 000 towards this year’s Miss Millennium slated for February 16 at Millennium Jazz Restaurant at Mogoditshane.
Speaking at a press briefing on February 4, Mascom chief communication and public relations officer, Tebogo Lebotse-Sebego said the company was thankful for being part of the Miss Millennium pageant.
She said the relationship between them and Miss Millennium started last year and hoped it would continue.
Lebotse-Sebego said the pageant advocated for women empowerment for societal development as it enhanced the quality and quantity of human resources.
She applauded organisers and past Miss Millennium beauty participants for the pageant saying it was a necessary step in trying to help the country overcome the obstacles associated with poverty and development.
Lebotse-Sebego noted that Mascom was willing to support the queen, to empower and support women.
Event producer and Miss Millennium pageant organiser, Zenzele Hirschfeld said the pageant was a celebration of mature women aged over 40 and was also in recognition of their role in the community.
She said she was honoured and grateful to Mascom for their sponsorship and encouraged people to come and witness the beauty and growth that came with Mascom.
Hirschfeld said Miss Millennium had over the years managed to establish itself as an extra ordinary pageant that focused less on physical and more on spiritual beauty.
“This pageant is more focused on the woman within, her substance. We are not necessarily focused on facial looks or a particular body structure but rather, what the woman has to offer towards building a stronger community and making the world a better place,” she said.
She therefore urged the community to come in large numbers to witness elegance and class.
Miss Millennium is a community building beauty pageant established in 2008 by Millennium Jazz Bar patrons.
What started off as a simple gathering of jazz enthusiasts has, over the last 10 years, grown to become a fully-fledged beauty pageant that not only benefits communities but also creates women of substance committed to serving the nation.
Millennium Jazz Restaurant has been and still is home to this renowned social responsibility event.
The previous and current Miss Millennium beauty queens have made a difference around Mogoditshane and neighbouring residents’ lives. ENDS
