Local gospel artiste, Kabelo Eric’s East Africa tour has culminated with a collaboration with a famous Rwanda’s artiste Serge Iyamuremye.
The Sikwane-born star recently took his music to Kenya and Rwanda where he made news on different Rwandan radio stations and online newspapers.
In an interview recently, Eric said he had an opportunity to do interviews with various media houses in Rwanda, which gave him mileage.
In March, he said he would shoot a music video with Iyamuremye in Rwanda, which he described as a boost to his glittering music career. He said the connection would give him access to the East African market.
Eric said he would do the songs in Xhosa, English, and Setswana languages adding that Iyamuremye would add a touch of English with a Nigerian accent to jazz things up.
He said they were targeting different Rwandan Television channels, Trace Africa Music Channel and Dstv Gospel 331 to give the video a wide audience.
He said the new development would open doors for him adding that he looked forward to working with international film and videographers when shooting the video with Iyamuremye.
Eric came a long way with the gospel music industry.
One of his albums, Jutase wa Mosekariota, released in 2007, became a hit with gospel music lovers.
He released his fourth album called, Take the Glory together with its video in November last year during a prophetic gala dinner in Francistown.
He shared the album, with a fusion of contemporary and traditional beats was a personal devotion to God.
He said the fusion was intended to cater for both his local and international audience.
Eric said Take The Glory video was shot in Gaborone by Bokang Ramotswadi of Cheer Heart Media and the reception was great.
His latest video features gospel jazz veteran, Boipelo Morwagabuse, who is also a theatre actress and his younger brother who doubles as a pastor.
Eric said his dream was to be on the forefront during international shows.
He further disclosed that he was featured in a gospel concert last year in London. Eric said he wanted his music to reach the rest of the world and earn him revenues.
Eric promotes his music through shows.
“To me singing gospel is more of a calling than a career as I am a child of God and my life should be a living celebration of God’s given talent that I have. My all-time prayer is to resemble God through my music and live an exemplary life though it is a challenge as I am still growing. God’s wisdom will see me through,” he said.
However, he raised concern that pirated music made it hard for artistes to earn a living through their work.
Besides music, he is a motivational speaker, preacher and a fulltime employee at the Ministry of Nationality, Immigration and Gender Affairs.
Also, he said he was putting final touches on his debut book to be published this year. ENDS
