Film and television production is gaining momentum in the country with a few select young people taking advantage of the opportunities it presents.

Bakisani Moseki of Film 333 International has since bought his own equipment and successfully delivered his first few projects among them weddings, parties and life session musical events.

Speaking in an interview, the youthful Moseki highlighted that his biggest catch was shooting a talk show in partnership with Mowana Pictures, which he revealed would be aired in one of the local television stations.

“I am in another partnership. I am shooting a drama written by Thabologo Nfila and Taboka Salang as well as Kabo Nginya’s short movie titled, Thanya that was shown at the first annual TV and film festival,” he said.

Moseki said they intend to submit their drama at NOW TV adding that they also had the support of local business including Panshaa Bed and Breakfast, Cappuccino in CBD while they were awaiting feedback from other eligible sponsors.

“I am working with a crew of seven young people, 20 actors and five extras.

I also work with three youth freelancers who are always on standby,” Moseki said.

Equipped with TV and film background from an Associate Degree in TV and film Production following his graduation in 2017,  Moseki said he continued networking and benchmarking by taking advantage of training offered by Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development.

He appreciated the TV and film consultative meeting and other self sponsored workshops, which gave him a platform to learn thereby giving him the glimmer of hope in the industry.

The youth fund beneficiary said through the funding, he was able to procure two professional video cameras, one professional photo camera, Apple Mac for editing as well as accessories that consist of lights, stands, printer.

“What I have bought is enough for my business startup,” he said.

Moseki offers services including film production, photography and graphic design.

He said his services were not limited to Gaborone where he is based.

The Masunga-born said he dealt with challenges such as  costly transport, client price negotiation leading to low income and the market congestion to which he appreciated the healthy competition it comes with from his competitors. ENDs
