Ten-year-old Itumeleng Engine, who hails from Molepolole, has released her debut album entitled, Nkutlwe.
The young artiste, who has chosen the gospel-jazz genre, dropped the sizzling debut in October last year.
Speaking in an interview, Itumeleng said she was inspired by her father, who was also a member of United Souls Gospel Singers.
She said she had ensured that she availed time for music and school work to avoid any distraction in her academic performance.
Itumeleng’s father, who also acts as her manager, Khutsafalo Engine said his daughter’s candy coated voice and rare talent influenced him to invest in exposing her musical skills and talent to the public.
He described his daughter as a creative and self-driven singer and that all of the songs in the album were composed by her.
“The new album was dubbed, Nkutlwe because of the gospel message and songs it carries that touch and challenge listeners, especially those who have gone through some rough patches in their lives,” he said.
Engine added that the young artiste wrote the songs influenced by her orphaned fellow students and classmates, who lacked faith in God, so that they could change and resort to a different life.
The young artiste has made appearances at school shows and graduation ceremonies as well as church gatherings, which exposed her vocal talent.
Engine said he was enthralled by the support and gratitude from the public, which was reflected by the feedback his daughter received after her tease songs were aired on RB1.
He said he was still in the process of approaching other radio stations and television to put the young artiste’s talent into the limelight.
Engine appealed to established artistes and media to support fresh talent from early stages. ENDS
