The legendary South Africa kwaito group, Trompies will bid Batswana farewell in December in a festival dubbed, Trompies Retirement Tour.
The group retires from the music industry end of the year.
This came to light in an interview with the festival media liaison, Letlhogile Mpuang who said Trompies had chosen Botswana as one of the countries they would tour as part of their farewell to thank Batswana for support, love and appreciation since the group’s establishment in the late 80s.
Mpuang said Trompies enjoyed support from Botswana and wanted to give the fans a bit of their original flavour before leaving the industry to venture into other businesses.
The tour that is brought by 7even-11 Company begins December 27 with two official tours to be held at Palapye on December 28 and Molepolole on December 29.
Mpuang said the festival, which promised to be an event to remember, would feature other South African and local artistes.
He said the group intended to leave a legacy for Batswana by giving back to the community. “Individuals have been identified whom the group would donate part of their earnings to,” stated Mpuang.
The group also intends to share their knowledge with local artistes through a workshop to be organised in collaboration with the Botswana Music Union. ENDS
