14 Oct 2018

Seeds of Jazz Band is planning to release a single titled: Batlhami le badiragatsi, which was produced at Livewire studios in Ramotswa.

The jazz band comprises the winner of My Star 2014 Boikanyo Sejalollwane as vocalist, Tonic Moatlhodi as drummer, Boikobo Ntsimanyane bassist, Tshenolo Serojane vocalist, Joseph Tanyala producer and Costa Sephekolo as band leader and guitarist.

In an interview, Sephekolo said they formed the band because they wanted to explore new things and develop their talents as well as the band mates’ thirst to stimulate the music industry in Botswana.

The band leader said they were hopeful the single, which would be released in a few months, would do well in the market and open doors for them, because they believed it was a hit.

He said it was dedicated to Batswana, mostly young artistes, to encourage them to believe in themselves and work hard to improve their lives.

“One can use music for survival, therefore it is important for an artiste to be ambitious and be strong-minded,” he said.

Sephekolo said the song encouraged Batswana to utilise their talents and be resilient to achieve their destiny, emphasising that destiny was not a matter of chance, but of choice and it was not a thing to be waited for, but to be achieved.

He said they gel in their band because they believed in transparency, brotherhood, team spirit and honesty.

“The band was established with the intention to grow the friendship and enhance our talents at the same time. Passion, friendship and talent have brought us this far,” said Serojane.

He said the band is doing great because they had faith in God, declaring and decreeing that they were born to be a family, not only a band.

“We might be poor, but we are rich in soul,” said the passionate vocalist.

Serojane said they had a challenge of sound equipment, but remained hopeful for assistance from a good Samaritan as their vision was to succeed and perform internationally.

He said they were willing to help anyone who was eager to learn how to play musical instruments to grow Batswana’s talents and develop the music industry. ENDS
