Author of the book, Dive In, recently donated 2 040 copies of her book to 34 senior secondary schools countrywide as a response to the request by Scripture Union (SU). Speaking in an interview, Ashley Thaba said the SU recently embarked on a nationwide campaign to help the youth.
“They approached me and asked if they could use the book I wrote that practically teaches how to read the Bible and that is where my book Dive In comes in,” she said.
Thaba noted that SU had hoped that businesses would help donate the Bible study guide, however that never materialized.
“So I approached friends in the United States to see if they would help. Between my friends and me we managed to donate 2 040 books. There are 34 senior secondary schools in the country which means that each school got 60 books. SU would have loved to have been able to give to any student who wanted, but unfortunately the resources were limited,” she continued.
Thaba said Dive In offers guide on how to go deeper into the scripture. It explains, “principles such as treating others the way you want to be treated, looking to serve others instead of wanting to be served, being content no matter what you have, choosing to be thankful in all circumstances, etc,” said Thaba.
She said reception of the material was phenomenal and a lot of the youth came forward for the book even though copies were not enough. She noted that the book was also donated to the Minister of Basic Education while businessman Dumi Lopang handed over some of the books in Selebi Phikwe. BOPA
