Jazz sensationalist, Allen Obuseng, who released his first solo album in June maintains that Morwa Sesinyi is a work in progress, which will expose him to the Jazz stage both locally and internationally.
Having started music at a tender age, the 35-year-old finally released his solo eight- track debut album titled Morwa Sesinyi and is yet to finish the visuals for the title track.
Speaking in an interview, Obuseng said the album was recorded live in the studio and encompasses original compositions of Afro-Cuban jazz and contemporary jazz melodies inspired by his profound love of both jazz and classical music.
The album is named after the title track Morwa Sesinyi, that relates to the biblical prodigal son and currently has its fair share of airplay in RB1.
Some of the tracks from the album include Ngwana Malome, Tales of Jazz, Ballroom Dance, Welcome Home, Mma Thabo, Letlhafula and All About me.
He said his stammering has not stopped him to pursue his passion, adding that although he can not sing, he finds profound fulfilment in music as a whole.
Kanye born Obuseng narrated that he developed the passion and his musical journey began in 1995 with Ramatea Brass and Marimba Band under Lutheran Church, where he first played marimba and trumpet, making classical music.
He said it was through the band that he toured and performed in Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe, where he performed on big stages with prominent bands.
He recalled his memorable tour to England and Germany in 1998-2000 when he was still a junior school pupil and developed an immense love for classical music and gospel jazz influenced by the response of their then audience.
Moreover, to prove his undying love for classical music, he said in 2006, he followed his dream to play various instruments and bought his first acoustic guitar and became a self-taught guitarist and found it easy as he had a strong musical theory he amassed in his adolescent years.
He also said between 2007 and 2012 he purchased more musical instruments in South Africa during his varsity days, where he studied Bachelor of Electrical Engineering, adding that he had most of the best collection.
Obuseng said he later founded and managed a band dubbed Ocean Blues Jazz Band and released their debut Album in 2015, but because of other commitments members could not keep up with the band and was forced to recruit new members.
He said he has a mobile studio where he records his music live, mixed and mastered his music, adding that he worked with part members of Ocean Blues in his album.
Obuseng said he was prepared to withstand competition. ENDS
