20 Sep 2018

BotswanaCraft prides itself with giving artistes a chance to make an impression and today (September 21) will be no different when Jordan Moozy and a local take to the stage.

Jordan Moozy, who was born in Gaborone but originally from Zimbabwe, was raised in a Christian family.

The 20-year old lad stated in an interview that his passion for music began at Sunday school where he was the lead singer in the choir.

“I evolved from singing regular church hymns to writing and composing my own material at the tender age of 13 and I have always been an enthusiastic participant in music classes throughout my school years, displaying a fundamental hunger for the art,” he said.

He said he drew inspiration from the likes of Bob Marley, Michael Jackson and fellow jazz musicians within his family, Pure Wood and Hava who played an influential role in his musical journey.

Moozy further said his musical content was derived from personal experiences and that he strived to be as authentic as possible in his songs.

“What you see is what you get,” he said.

Moozy’s show would be a display of his original music, accompanied by a band formed by young Batswana musicians namely, Thabiso Mohlotsane (keyboard), Khaya Groth (drums), Edmund Baikatlhodi (bass), Tshiamo Mashinini (guitar) and Mopati Molosiwa (saxophone).

Tickets for the show are available at Botswanacraft and Maitisong retailing at P100 each.

Groth said with the support of Traders Bay, BotswanaCraft and Active Africa, the show would  encourage the youth to pursue their passions, promote musicians to perform original compositions as well as develop the support of local music.

“This show is certainly one not to miss,” he said, adding that the show would start from 7pm to 10pm. ENDS
