One Man Show promises bigger better event

The third edition of One Man Show (OMS) promises to be bigger and better with a new twist to the event.
The concept was established in 2016 by a local DJ who is also the owner of YDJ Academy. The show aims to convey a message of solidarity that Djing can be a full time job fulfilling individuals’ basic needs.
Leatile Rapoo, known as YDj in entertainment circles, explained in an interview that the first edition was staged in Tlokweng where he was on the decks for 10 hours non-stop.
The second edition was held last year at Masimo Gateway in Kgatleng District where he held it down for 24 hours straight.
This year’s edition will have 24 graduates of YDJ Academy alongside their master at Bojanala on 22 September.
According to YDJ, the 24 DJs are active graduates of the academy, adding that they have observed that local entertainment joints only gave the same people opportunities.
He said it was for this reason that the 2018 OMS would have graduates from the academy from as far as 2010 as a way of assisting them to display their talent and secure employment.
YDJ said this year he would only turn the tables for two hours in order to give his students the platform to shine.
The event will also host the youngest DJ in the country, DJ Toets.
DJ Toets will entertain his peers in the kiddies section during the day, as the OMS is also a family fun day activity.
Clowns and games will also be availed at the kiddies section.
OMS is also about charity. Last year the event collaborated with Tlamelong Rehabilitation Centre and Motswedi Rehabilitation Centre where they donated electrical appliances and clothes to both centers.
This year, YDJ said they were still to identify an organisation to donate to. However, he said there was a youth soccer team that approached them for assistance and that they would be considered.
YDJ said giving back to the community was a way of showing the academy’s appreciation to people who supported them, adding that the idea of donating was of the academy.
Tickets for the OMS Campus Edition are sold at P50 (limited) and P70 whilst at the gate it will be P100. BOKHUTLO
