The Rentse Foundation Trust, will embark on a charitable initiative through Miss Charity 2018/19 pageant to be held in Gaborone on October 5.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, the founder of Rentse Foundation Trust, who is also director of Miss Charity 2018/19, Rentse Ugokwe says the main mandate of the pageant was not only to raise funds for the underprivileged, but to also encourage everyone to give back to the community in order to build a healthy society.

She said proceeds from the pageant would be used to build houses for three elderly people in Lephephe.

She said Miss Charity pageant also empowered the youth and women to care for the community through the provision of school uniforms campaigns to children who come from needy families in rural areas.

She said the pageant would also provide a platform for businesses entities and government departments to fulfill their Corporate Social Responsibility and assist in uplifting the lives of the less fortunate members of the community by donating funds to be used to build them houses.

“Everyone has greatness in them, and I’m very hopeful that every caring Motswana has it in them to give a helping hand where it’s needed. The theme of the pageant; Giving is living, advocates for the spirit of giving, that is what we stand for,” she added.

The winner of Miss Charity 2018/19 will work for appointed charities of her choice, Ugokwe revealed.

“She will visit primary schools in villages and rural areas and donate school uniforms and shoes,” she said.

Since its inception, The Rentse Foundation Trust has built a total of three houses for less fortunate families.

Ugokwe-Maganu has been an advocate both in USA and Botswana and working closely with the elders and orphans.
