The Catholic Diocese of Gaborone’s Association of Catholic Church Choir will host its Annual Music Festival in Gaborone on August 25.

The event has over the years offered a chance for the winners to engage in an Inter-Diocese Competitions in South Africa.

Speaking in an interview, public relations officer of the association, Tsholofelo Manyothwane said the festival, aimed at  enhancing music technique of singing among the community and the catholic choristers through worship.

She said the festival features a true diversity of local Catholic church choirs performing and making singing a therapy that relaxes the body and soul.

“It increasingly offers more than just musical entertainment to people, it also gives opportunity for other denominations and the community to come and benchmark,” Manyothwane added.

She further noted that over the years, the love for the festival has yielded tremendous fruits in the Catholic Church and the community as more Batswana emerged as composers, soloists, professional conductors and producers.

Manyothwane has therefore urged members of the public to come in numbers to support the festival. ENDS
