Local fashion designer Delayna Scott is set to showcase her new collection named Afro Chic at the Plitz fashion show during the New York Fashion week slated for September 8-9.
Speaking in an interview, Delayna’s brand manager Thato Tau said the show would bring together and highlight 35 international talents from around the world.
“Delayna is set to leave next week Tuesday and she is the second ever African fashion brand and the first Botswana based fashion brand to showcase at the event,” she said.
Speaking about Delayna’s fashion brand, Thato said Afro Chic is an exciting collection that played around with a lot of African prints, bolder colors and elements in order to reinvent classic silhouettes.
“The collection which boasts 50 pieces in total is the largest collection Delayna has worked on to date,” said Thato, adding that by bridging traditional craftsmanship with modern designs, Delayna offers contemporary pieces which inspire transnational and inter generational conversations through fashion.
Delayna Scott is a Botswana-based bridal and women’s wear fashion brand.
For her part, Delayna said her brand brings to life the Caribbean and African traditions that greatly influenced the designer’s childhood.
She said she complemented the modern and audacious women through the use of both straight and elegantly curved lines, luscious fabrics and intricate details in order to create beautiful silhouettes that showed off the African figure.
“I created Delayna Scott for women who love their bodies and want the world to know how good they feel through their bold fashion choices,” explained Delayna, indicating that she was grateful for the opportunity to show the world what she can offer. ENDS
