Seeiso merges fashion with cultural assortment

Individuals have a creative sense that differs from person to person and many express their personality in the way they dress.

Fashion, like everything else keeps on changing and each year brings with it new trends that people follow to fit in or belong.

Tebogo Seeiso 33, of Gabane said she was drawn to the world of fashion by the realisation that there was money to be made in the industry.

The nimble-fingered director of Tabjoy Fashion Designers, based in Gabane said there was correlation between culture and fashion hence her designs incorporate cultural aspects to stay unique.Fashion she said was key in preserving culture and at the same time a great business opportunity.

“My mission is to preserve culture in style,” she said.

This she said, has enabled her to position, develop and grow her business.Seeiso said she would always ensure her business contributed to the country’s economy.

“The importance of clothes transcends cultures, time and geographies and I refer to them as the social skin. No matter whether we are talking about the present or victorian times, what we wear has meaning. Our clothes indicate who we are as individuals as well as a society,” she said. Her dream she said had always been to create jobs for other youth and that saw her quitting her job as an accountant and enrolled in a dressmaking course.

The passionate soft spoken designer who also doubles as a personal stylist said she worked in different companies where she learnt the nuts and bolts of the industry. ENDS
