Dikgosi tsa Ngwao persevere

29 Jul 2018

Director of Dikgosi tsa Ngwao traditional dance troupe, Goitseone Ditshwantsho said they knew it well that they had to fight tooth and nail to capture hearts of many in different spheres of life when they entered the music industry.

All the efforts they made have borne fruit as they managed to make a significant penetration.

They are now one of the most preferred groups when it comes to the provision of entertainment during corporate and other social gatherings.

Ditshwantsho shared in an interview with BOPA that the group was formed in September 2016, and they have emerged the public’s favourite.

He highlighted that they had managed to emerge victorious in this year’s Presidential Arts Competitions under the Hosanna category, something he said they pride themselves with as a group.

“We established our group not so long ago and the positive outcomes we have received so far have given us a sense of hope that we are growing at an interesting pace,” he noted.

Ditshwantsho explained that having emerged victorious at the said competitions was a double benefit for them as they received a cash prize, which would go a long way to assist them to further enhance their brand.

He also said the victory had opened doors for more opportunities in terms of exposure, noting that they were mostly known in the northern part of the country previously.

“Through these competitions, we gained recognition from other parts of the country and hopefully across the borders,” said Ditshwantsho highlighted.

Ditshwantsho also noted that all their achievements did not come readily served on a silver platter.

He added that while implementing innovative strategies that helped them stand unique from other groups, particularly those that were already into Hosanna, they also had to exercise necessary perseverance and determination, which indeed paid off for them.

He said they intended to grow through improved performances and thereby be different from their competitors by style, service, display and attire.

The group leader is also convinced that talent is now a career opportunity that people could look into for a means of survival once it is taken seriously.

He explained that the establishment of their group, which has attracted about 30 youths from different villages, has so far played a critical role in grooming the members to live independently as well as helping in efforts of curbing the much concern of unbecoming behaviour so common among the youth.
