The Maun based actor and a comedian Baakile Mobe has appealed to Botswana Music Union to consider opening offices in strategic points to cater for artistes based outside Gaborone.
He said most artistes do not fully enjoy services offered by BOMU because of distance, adding that some were economically challenged to reach the offices in Gaborone to register.
He made the plea during an interview stating that opening offices in big villages such as Maun would attract more interest from artistes and would eventually grow the music industry.
Mobe, who is also known as ‘Saqwapa’ in the industry came to limelight through hilarious Tswana comedy series called Chobolo in 2008.
He said the introduction of President Day competitions had made a huge difference in the lives of many.
The competition, he said had unearthed a lot of talent which he believed should be nurtured.
The 38-year-old explained that during his spare time, he voluntarily helped local groups and schools to put together their acting pieces.
Mobe had featured in many series including Radijo comedy series which took many by storm with its well-researched Tswana jokes based mainly on Tswana humorous stories.
He explained that he started acting at a tender age and participated in school competitions around the country.
After completing his secondary school, he became part of the out of school drama groups, where his acting skills were noticed.
He was featured in Keya Shakawe, Mamenene and Ra-dingongorego, but the one that put him in the limelight was Chobolo.
Mobe is proud to have shared the stage with big giants in the industry in the likes of Kganka of Ke thutswe ke koloi and Gaone Tshoganyetso when they released Kings comedy.
He pleaded with upcoming artistes to persevere in life and do what they love with passion, adding that challenges would always be encountered, but it was up to an individual to turn them into opportunities and move forward. ENDS
