Mister Gaborone to bring positive change

19 Jul 2018

The newly crowned Mister Gaborone King, Jomo Kgaolo will partner with Men for Health and Gender Justice organisations to donate toiletries and other necessities to prisoners, in a  project intended to better their lives.

Speaking in an interview, Kgaolo said this was one of the many projects he planned to undertake during his reign as he prepares to represent Botswana on an international level.

He said the projects would mainly be based on uplifting and positively impacting communities.

He further mentioned that he would like to work with BotswanaPost Foundation where they would donate clothing, food, toiletries and shoes to the less privileged members of the community, in an initiative he said would give everyone the dignity they deserve irrespective of their social status.

By virtue of winning Mister Gaborone, Kgaolo was granted opportunity to choose to represent Botswana at three different international pageants being Mr Africa International, Mr Universal Ambassador and Mr Heritage.

He has however expressed interest in Mr Africa International, leaving the other two pageants for his runner ups to choose from.

When asked on how well prepared he was for an international stage, Kgaolo said that he just got started and he was running against time to fully prepare and set his community engagements in motion. Nonetheless, he promised to do his best and represent Botswana as best as he could

“I am working on an average time of three to four months getting ready for the Mr Africa International finale, which will take place at the end of the year. In this short space, I need to get my projects done and familiarise myself with international standards of these pageants because they (pageants) want someone who will represent their brand, so I want to be well prepared,” he said.

Kgaolo expressed gratitude to his family, friends and supporters for their emotional and financial support in his pursuit of the prestigious crown.

“I would like to give special thanks to my employer, BotswanaPost for being my biggest support system in this competition. The company purchased 10 VIP tickets so that my colleagues would attend and offer me moral support at the finale,” he noted.

He also added that, the amount of support he received from all put him under a lot of pressure as they believed in him and expected him to win, therefore helped boost his confidence and ultimately winning the crown.

Going forward, Kgaolo has implored corporates, individuals and organisations to come on board and work with him during his reign in his efforts to better the nation.

At the moment, he is the brand ambassador of Dehandz Be Brand who are his official timepiece and eyewear sponsors for one year.

He encouraged young men to utilise platforms such as Mister Gaborone as best as they could as that would not only build them as individuals but would also bring positive impact to the societies they live in. ENDS
