Juta takes house music to church

10 Jul 2018

House music is common at parties and other events such as weddings, where people dance in all sorts of ways some that might even drop the jaws of the converted.

But such a view of the music has not stopped one artiste to release a gospel house album for his fans.

Born Tyson Moyanngwa, 31-year-old Chadibe-born said in an interview that his album called Kgalemela Lusifa was produced at Cabido Productions by Motabaseo of Mahempe hit.

Juta, as he is affectionately called in the gospel music circles had featured Motabaseo in some of his songs.

He said the eight-track album was released in May 2018 and featured hit house Zion songs such as the title track Kgalemela Lusifa, Golgotha and Bishop Dingalo.

Juta stated that Kgalemela Lusifa was about the bad things Satan was doing to the world, which included passion killings, diseases, road accidents, divorces and many others.

He said the Bishop Dingalo song was meant to thank his church bishop for helping many people by praying, counselling and even exorcising demons from them.

Juta said he chose to sing house Zion gospel so that his music could be different from other gospel singers.

Also, he said he had realised that young people liked house music; hence he decided to use his music to take them away from clubs and bars where bad things like crime, unplanned sex, accidents and other bad things usually happen.

The musician said he was inspired by local gospel artistes such as Phempherethe Pheto, Baisiraela, and international stars such as Winnie Mashaba and Oleseng Shuping to sing gospel music.

The album was made for people of all ages and to be played anywhere and the young musician said he took his time before releasing it so that he came up with quality for music fans.

Juta said he was using social media, promotions at shopping malls and festivals to market his album and had taken it to local radio stations, hoping his songs would be played soon.

Juta said he was more than ready to penetrate the music industry and promised to work extra hard to take his album to the people, adding that the album was not doing badly, as the 200 CDs he had cut have been sold out.

He also said he was preparing to shoot a DVD for his album in the near future, which will contain electrifying house music dance moves.

Juta pleaded with local companies and other organisations to help in sponsoring artistes so that they could be able to reach greater heights.

The gospel singer also said the limited times for music shows and festivals negatively affects artistes.

He noted that he was ready to perform in any charity event because his music is not only about making profit, but also about giving back to the community.

Juta has encouraged young people who want to sing to concentrate on their studies first. ENDS
