Palapye -based upcoming artiste, Thabiso Ramolelo aka Sean Ramzy has resorted to fundraising to enable him to produce a video for his debut album dubbed 25K.

The album launch is billed for December and the musician intends attracting 25 000 fans for the big day.

Inspired by Kast of Tlatsa Lebala fame, Sean Ramzy said he decided on fundraising by seeking donations from the public because local artistes were faced with challenges such as being exploited by promoters and piracy.

He said artistes both upcoming and established still got peanuts despite their capability or displaying skills matching their international counterparts.

Sean Ramzy said there were some who still expected artistes to perform for free arguing that such gave them exposure.

“I came up with the initiative after my experience in the music industry. I could not break into the mainstream market hence I was not enjoying the full benefits that I think I deserve as an artiste,” he stated

The 22 year-old said he wanted to get as many donations as possible to ensure that fans associated with his brand, hence donations started at P10. He said his target was to get 2 500 people including businesses to support his idea.

He said he intended to launch his 12 track album which featured 25k as the lead song in Palapye.

The Lerala -born artiste’s desire is to have sufficient funds to realise his dream and support fellow musicians to enable them to contribute to the country’s economy.

He said he believed that a sound local fan base was good for networking and attracting international connection.

Since embarking on the 25K initiative in March, he said he was motivated to keep the ball rolling until he achieved his goal.

He said he had already released a pre-album, a reflection of the hardships he had gone through in the music industry. ENDS
