With passion and determination, 23-year-old Prince Moyo of Maun and Timothy Dike, 22, of Shakawe have teamed up to explore and take visual arts to another level.
When some are experimental, indecisive and hesitant on how to execute and nurture talent the two persistently go in fearlessly with a plan as well as a viable business mindset.
They are unstopped by the forces against them including funds, which seemingly fuels the same challenges to bring out the best artistry.
Inspired by their art background and lifestyle, Moyo and Dike said they met via Facebook in 2017 as Dike was fascinated by Moyo's the work.
The duo has since agreed to bring the best out of each other.
They said they do visual art customisation on different clothing items such as jean jackets, pants, cabs, canvas shoes where they design as per the client specification.
In addition, they also make sculptures, draw portraits of all sizes and do murals using paint, pen and pencil respectively.
With their profound art work, Dike said they had crafted clothing items for individuals and some local celebrities such as Charma Gal, DJ Gyvos to name a few.
The duo also said they have had a solo exhibition at University of Botswana themed ‘Eat to Live’ and attest that people came in satisfactory numbers and encouraged them as well as offered bountiful fresh ideas.
Moyo said they had also participated in the Thapong Artist of the Year Award, and even though they did not win, they were motivated as they acquired knowledge, skill as well as networking.
They also participated in the recently held Youth Business Expo.
Business-wise, the two said they get positive feedback and people were forthcoming and they get more exposure on their social media platforms, make intensive and constant research to keep up with trends as a way of professionalism and to stand out.
Moyo and Dike said though they use art to express themselves, they also infuse the aspect of raising awareness by taking art to the people and aims at making art affordable.
The duo also said they were working with students from Taung Junior School in Ramotswa and Botsalano Primary in Tlokweng with the motive to impart, inspire, mentor and teach art basics to those who had the zeal and passion for art.
They said they wish to grow to a point where they had art centres and workshop that could accommodate children for easy accessibility so as to be able to commune and indulge in art.
The two have financed their business to buy materials and equipment and they pleased with young people to always follow thei passion.
Moyo also said they were some people with negative attitude towards art, either reluctant to pay or doubt that art could be both a career and a profession and therefore implored such people to review their perception on art. ENDS
