Local artistes to learn from Mashaba

Boipuso Hall will be host to South African gospel singer, Winnie Mashaba at the 4th Annual Moral Regeneration Show on August 11.
The event will be a combination of dialogue sessions and live musical performances, whose main purpose is to lead dialogues through music and prayer as well as empower youth in the process.
The show will be making its debut in Botswana after successful events in South Africa, as Mashaba’s efforts to give back to Batswana for having supported her throughout her musical career and contributed immensely to her talent for nearly 20 years.
The event will see Mashaba sharing her expertise and experiences of how she had managed to remain relevant in the music industry for years.
She will also engage with local gospel artistes on issues of commercialising and professionalising their craft and also afford them an opportunity to share her stage.
Speaking at a media briefing Wednesday, Mashaba noted that the ultimate objective of the annual moral regeneration programme was to contribute towards the development of a tolerant and moral society for the common good through the revival of the spirit of Botho/Ubuntu and the actualisation and realisation of the family values of societies as embraced in the moral regeneration charter.
“Our nation’s moral fiber requires divine intervention and everything big and small that may salvage the country’s future to reach greater heights must be explored,” she said.
She further noted that government alone cannot achieve to reinforce the morals of the communities, especially youth, hence the need for the society to also put a helping hand.
Former BOMU president, Phempheretlhe Phetho, welcomed the concept with open arms saying the development would go down the history books of Botswana’s music fraternity.
“This is the first time we see a South African artiste travelling all the way to Botswana to come and show gratitude to Batswana for supporting their talents. It should be noted that Batswana have always been supporters of South African music from time immemorial, so I commend Winnie Mashaba for such a noble gesture,” he said.
The Annual Moral Regeneration show, through its motivational speakers, seeks to comb at societies in the prevention of HIV/AIDS, teenage pregnancy, alcohol and substance abuse, tribalism, violence, sexual violence, disrespect for the elderly and all other social ills that continue to plunge the country into loss of identity and morality.
As build up to the show, there would be social cohesion games to promote the sense of belonging and also promote trust and tolerance among communities.
Again, there would be live musical performances from Mashaba and local youth artistes such as Tswana Sanctified Voices, Johnson Thato, Aregopoleng Boys Choir, Leah, Ditsala Moreneng, among others. Tickets sell for P200 general and P300 for VIP. ENDS
