Mister Gaborone Saturday

12 Jun 2018

Only a few days remain before the Mister Gaborone grand finale is held at Cresta Lodge in Gaborone on Saturday.

A build-up event, in the form of activation, was held recently with the aim to introduce finalists to the public.

The activation event was also meant to afford people a chance to mingle with the finalists as well as give them a sneak-peek of what to expect on the night of the pageant.

The pageant founder and creative director, Oratile Phofhedi said their intention was to turn the pageant, whose mandate is to empower Batswana as well as raise awareness on social issues affecting men, into a corporate social responsibility project as demonstrated through  community projects undertaken by the finalists.

He said Mister Gaborone was more than just a pageant but a platform meant to bring people of diverse interests under one common gathering not only to have fun but to also raise awareness on social related issues affecting men as well as the modern society. “It is quite obvious that ladies are our targeted crowd, but as Mister Gaborone, we are not biased or stereotypical.

That is why both males and females came in numbers and graced our activation night to come celebrate our fine men and get to know them better,” he said in an interview.

Phofhedi has promised a night of glitz and glamour come June 16 with performances from high profile local and international artists.

This year, the pageant, which is in its second year running, has three offers for the top three finalists which would include representing Botswana at the Mr Universal Ambassador, Mr Africa International as well as Mr Heritage.

Tickets for the pageant sell for P650 for Kings and Queens (VIP) which include a full buffet, bottle of wine and a prominent seat, P400 gold including complimentary drinks and light snacks as well as P250 for silver. ENDS
