29 May 2018

Assemblies of God (AOG) Mochudi in conjunction with Motlhaolosa Poetry Ensemble will on June 9, host the first ever Culture Day.

The event will be held at Lady Mitchison Primary School grounds, under the theme: “Ngwao e e phepha, Boipelo jwa Modumedi”.

It will be officially opened by former vice president and Motlhaolosa Poetry Ensemble patron, Dr Ponatshego Kedikilwe.

In an interview, the event spokesperson, Keatlaretse Kwati said the culture day was part of the church’s efforts to raise funds for its ongoing building project.

“We wanted to do something that is not common in churches ,something that will bring people together to celebrate at the same time raising money,” Kwati said.

She also said the culture day will be an opportunity for the younger generation to learn about traditional weaving, clothing, music and games among others.

She said the day would be interactive and fun filled as they have invited different churches in Mochudi as well as other traditional stakeholders.

Kwati urged people to attend in large numbers to come and learn about culture and enjoy cultural activities and traditional food.

Marumo Dintsi, who is also part of the organising committee, said the day will be a free cultural lesson to all as there will be traditional activities and cultural experts who will be offering free education.

He also said they have invited bogosi and the church leadership to be part of the culture day, adding that they wish for the culture day to be an annual event.

Dintsi said they were starting small, but hope to achieve excellence and exponential growth.

He said Assemblies of God Mochudi partnered with Motlhaolosa Poetry Ensemble because most of its members are Christians and the group promotes culture through poetry. ENDS
