Mzwinila meets Motlha Monna-o-Motona

Minister of Land Management, Water and Sanitation Services, Kefentse Mzwinila has met with the hit maker of Mmamotse, Motlha Mompe, popularly known as Motlha, and Facebook comedian, Monna-o-Motona on May 23 at his office to applaud them on their hard work and assure them of his support.
Mzwinila, who is also Member of Parliament for Mmadinare constituency, had a meet and greet session with the two artisans who are also from Mmadinare.
He said it was his way to show support to artists his constituency.
Speaking at the short meeting, Mzwinila expressed his happiness towards the duo for meeting with him, and showed his enthusiasm for Motlha’s music, stating that he had listened to some of his songs and thought they were great pieces of work.
“I first listened to Mmamotse through the radio, and I was impressed with your language dialect and how you expressed yourself. It is good to see young people using Setswana to sing,” Mzwinila said.
The 27-year-old Afro-Jazz and RnB artist is currently signed to Roc Lefatshe Records and has released Mmamotse, which managed to hit the top charts on local radio stations and a growing listenership on social media platforms.
Mzwinila applauded Motlha for his hard work.
The meeting with the minister came days before the “One Night with Motlha” concert that will held at the Stanbic Bank Piazza, Molapo Crossing. It will be a concert of firsts as the young man performs a one man show.
The Mmadinare MP said Monna-o-Motona has brought a unique style of comedy, and commended him for his resilience to achieve his dream of raising P40 000 for a music video.
“I have seen your work on Facebook and I was impressed.You are a funny guy and if you work hard on your craft, I believe you can take your work to a much bigger platform,” Mzwinila said of the Facebook comedian.
Monna-o-Motona, who is popularly known as a ‘feleb,’ (Facebook celebrity) has a following of over 80 000 people. He has posted funny videos and pictures which a lot of Batswana have taken a liking to.
Mzwinila advised the duo to brand their work to the greatest quality.
He added that they would have the support of the corporate sector support and promised to advocate for them.
The two artists showed their gratitude towards their MP, thanking him for his assurance to their work and Mmadinare’s creative industry.
They said they hoped their relationship with him would would go a long way.
“I am grateful to the minister for his interest in us as youth from Mmadinare who are trying to make their dreams come true, and we just want to prove that Botswana can produce good quality music,” Motlha said.
Monna-o-Motona also added that they were optimistic of the creative industry through the minister’s support, and expressed the need for support and facilitation to further their talents. Ends
