Bishops Festival this Saturday
23 May 2018
The Association of Catholic Church Choirs, Gaborone Diocese, will host its sixth annual Bishop’s Festival on May 26 in Gaborone.
The initiative, which is the brain child of Bishop Valentine Seane, was set in motion in 2013 with the aim of promoting liturgy through music to transcend cultural limitations and traditional barriers with life-changing Gospel of Christ through music.
Bishop Seane aspired to see Catholics producing their own songs using their own cultural melody and rhythm in their composition, by creating and cultivating a healthy liturgy through psalms and composition when responding to the liturgical dialogue in the order of mass, explained the association’s public relations officer, Tsholofelo Manyothwane during an interview.
This year, 27 choirs will partake in the event, with each choir rendering three items being the hymn, psalms and part of mass. Manyothwane called on Batswana to attend the event in order to listen and appreciate the choirs as they add beauty and solemnity to the liturgy. ENDS
