With the winter season kicking into full gear and translating into less social events, the 70s and 80s oldies disco party at Gaborone International Convention Centre on June 15 is one not to be missed.

Promoter Vincent Mosimanewakgang of Urban Motion Communication Group , roped in by The Grand Palm Hotel for the event, said the 70s and 80s oldies musical party was a lifestyle event catering for the youth and mature professionals.

“We are anticipating an audience of about 1 300 to attend and experience the music of many years ago from a number of renowned DJs from South Africa and Botswana. So far, confirmed DJs for the event are Oskido, Otis Fraser, Bax, Sid, Peter T, Shaft People and Lefatshe,” he said.

Mosimanewakgang said the event brings back golden oldies memories adding that they had carefully selected DJs based on popularity and their technical prowess on mixing and blending in songs.

“We are confident that the audience will be wowed and given value for their money.

This is a one-day lifestyle get together; the music, the colourful drinks, the ambience, the costumes, the audience and the décor setup will be part of the recipe, creating an environment suitable for the theme,” he said.

Last year, Mosimanewakgang said people came out in numbers to party and it was a jolly time; not minding the cold.

He said the event attracted a predominantly elderly audience who came dressed to the nines as they partied down a storm, courtesy of DJ Glen Lewis, Daddy Ski, Douglas Mosadi,

DJ Jazzy Dee, Stomps, and Choto among others.

He noted that tickets sell for P250 (general admission) and P500 (VIP).

“Tickets are available at the Grand Palm Hotel reception and Computicket. We are going to party from 7pm until late,” he said.

Mosimanewakgang said they were also mindful of people’s security adding that they would ensure that revellers had a good time without worrying about their safety.

“We pride ourselves in our secure venue, which will keep people and their belongings safe,” he said. ENDS
