BTC ready for marathon enthusiasts

The much-anticipated fourth edition of the Botswana Telecommunications Corporation (BTC) Marathon scheduled for tomorrow at the Obed Itani Chilume Stadium aims to promote wellness, inclusivity, and community engagement aligning with BTC’s broader commitment to nation-building.
This year’s marathon is expected to draw participants from across Botswana as well as those from neighbouring countries. Runners will compete in various categories including 3km, 5km, 10km, 21.1km, and 42.2km, ensuring options for all fitness levels and ages. A notable addition,in this year’s marathon is the wheelchair race, which further enhance the event’s inclusivity.
BTC’s acting CEO, Boitumelo Paya, emphasised the importance of the marathon as a way to honour the BTC journey and give back to the community.
“The marathon brings together athletes, families, and communities while creating real value beyond the finishing line,” she stated.
Over the years, proceeds from the marathon have supported impactful community projects, including enhancements to schools and health facilities.
The theme for this year’s event: Celebrating the Past, Connecting the Future. To spice up the marathon, BTC will introduce an after-party to celebrate its 45th anniversary. The after-party will feature entertainment, community exhibitions, and activities designed for families. ENDS
