Mr Oaitse Khango of Sedie ward is one person who believes that nowadays there is nothing like male and female business, but it is all about survival.
The 29-year-old Maun lad has ventured into a laundry business.
Speaking in an interview, Mr Khango said that his business started early this year and is progressing well. He said although some people classified it as a female project, he ignored that and does what was right for him because of his capabilities.
He revealed that the idea to operate a laundry was born after realising that it was cost-effective and did not require specialised skills. “The passion for the business started some years ago because my mother used to run a laundry,” he revealed.
Mr Khango explained that the laundry project was profitable as most people did not have time to do their washing.
“Nowadays people spend most of their time at work, during weekends they attend different events such as weddings and funerals,” he said.
Mr Khango, who graduated in 2014, noted that he did not want to look up to the government for assistance, but had to think outside the box and grab every available opportunity.
He lamented that some youths would rather be idle just because they want to apply the skills they had acquired from tertiary school.
He said his business was doing well because there were few laundry projects in Maun.
Mr Khango explained that currently, he had no washing equipment and washes by hand, adding however that he had ordered a washing machine because he was experiencing a high number of customers. ENDS
