Gone are the days when the art of artificial beauty was a thing of models and celebrities as part of their performances.
Most ladies seem to be consuming more of the growing celebrity culture and the use of cosmetics have become the in thing of the times thus creating job opportunities.
And it is not surprising that even men are taking advantage of what has for a long time been possibly to be women’s world.
Ramotswa -born costume, make up and styling artist Mr Emmanuel Charlie is one of those to have found the secret of completing the inner beauty with the physical beauty by magic worked by his hands.
“Doing what I love always gives me the hunger to thrive so I chose to be on top of my game,” Mr Charlie explained.
The 26 years old graduated with Associate Degree in Sound Technology from Limkokwing University in 2014, and progressed to study Degree in Costume, Makeup and Styling from Africa Film Drama Arts University. He was inspired by his love for modelling.
 Mr Charlie details that he used to be a model during his tertiary school days and he took part in 2014 Edgars Fashion Show and 2015 Michael Kra Jewelry Fashion show.
Now the former model explained that his modelling days gave him the opportunity to see the bigger picture which triggered him to fall in love with beauty products that inspired the birth of his career.
Mr Charlie is now thriving to work hard to ensure that his efforts are not fruitless so as to make a mark for himself in the industry.
“Pursuing art is fun, it allows one to be creative,” he elaborated.
He first started to show his ability in working on school project titled Gatwe e rile productions, which opened doors for him to stretch his wings.
Mr Charlie specialises on special effect makeup which involve transformation of colours, ageing, gore and bruises.
He also do bridal, fashion makeup and manages hair and characters’ overall look.
Currently Mr Charlie is working as a makeup artist on Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime drama, produced by Andile which will soon be aired on Botswana Television.
He is proud to detail that he is grateful to work with Dineo Mophukedi who is famously known for his role as Matlakala in Thokolosi
“It is a dream come true to work with her, she is talented and smart,” said Mr Charlie.
His speed dials now include Duma FM Radio presenter Rraagwe Tinana whom he is responsible for his overall look, comedian Jethro Ndebele who is known as Umaga and Ozzy the Great.
He has also worked with Ikanyeng Theatre group.
Nonetheless he says the Botswana market is small thus limited.
He explains that some people lack understanding of the work he does, especially special effects makeup. ENDS
