Another invention by marmalade jam producer in the form of dish washing liquid soap produced by a young Motswana woman, Ms Kesaobaka Ndovie, director of Pasta World (Pty) LTD in Tlokweng hit the shelves recently.

In her venture to increase the Gross Domestic Product and reduce imported commodities in Botswana, Ms Ndovie found it vital to locally start manufacturing and producing dish washing liquid soap to reduce over reliance on imported commodities.

In an interview with BOPA, Ms Ndovie attest that it is her love for cleaning that drove her to come up with a locally produced commodity that is common in every household .

In addition to dish washing liquid soap, she also produces window cleaner that could be used to wash and shine all types of windows, glass products like tables, doors and other glasses that are found in organisation and at home as well.

Ms Ndovie noted that the liquid soap could be used to wash and mop floor tiles, toilets, zinc and other domestic products that might have come into contact with oil as and when need arise adding that her product produces a lot of amazing foam that makes washing more enjoyable.

She said in the case that one might have forgotten to rinse the dishes, her product does not pose any harm to humanity as ingredients that are used are not detrimental to human health hence if consumed by mistake of forgetting to rinse may not cause any death.

On the other hand, she cautioned parents to treat the liquid soap with safety like every household detergent as excessive consumption more especially by infants may pose a health hazard and advised parents to consult medical practitioners or local clinics in the case of someone having taken in the dish liquid by mistake.

She said the product is not harmful to human skin and as such she guaranteed users not to fear or suspect any skin inflammation after using the product.

Ms Ndovie advised people to do away with using powdered soap for washing dishes as they were not intended for that purpose and encouraged users to always use specific products for the purposes that they are intended for.

The soap, she said can stay for up to two years after opening before one could think of it to have reached its life span or expiry date.

To expand this project, Ms Ndovie said she has sourced funding from Gender Affairs Department and added that she is still awaiting response from that department. ENDS
