Easter at the core of Christianity - Rev Moteti

22 Apr 2025

Easter, a cornerstone of Christianity, continues to hold profound significance, just as it did centuries ago.

This annual celebration serves as a poignant reminder of the pivotal life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, which occurred over 2000 years ago.

In an interview, Reverend Baamogeleng Moteti of Spiritual Healing Church said that commemorating Easter by pilgrims annually solidifies believers’ faith in the eternal life accorded them by Jesus Christ, who died on the cross of Calvary for the salvation of many.

“Easter is a time of reflection on this and many Christian values. It is a way to cement our belief in the everlasting life the Lord has given us,” he said.

Rev Moteti, the Church’s General Secretary, underscored the church’s pivotal role as a beacon of hope and love.

He emphasised its indispensability in a society grappling with a myriad of challenges, including gender-based violence, youth waywardness and moral decay.

According to Rev Moteti, love was at the centre of the many good virtues proclaimed by the church and had the potential to restore a divided society.

Rev Moteti shared, for instance, that the Spiritual Healing Church had established a comprehensive programme to instil the virtue of love in youth aged 12 to 17.

This initiative, conducted annually, testify to the church’s commitment to nurturing the next generation.

Rev Moteti emphasised that the youth programme at Spiritual Healing Church was not exclusive to its members.

Although most youth participating in this programme are Spiritual Healing Church members, Rev Moteti said that all young people in the same age bracket, including those from other church denominations, were welcome.

The programme, he said further, was the right vehicle to spread the doctrine of love, as many of the beneficiaries come from different parts of the country.

On others, Rev Moteti expressed his joy at the Spiritual Healing Church’s growth in Botswana and neighboring countries such as South Africa and Namibia.

This expansion is a testament to the church’s mission and dedication to its eternal mandate, evoking a sense of pride and accomplishment.

This Easter, the church also had visiting Christians from other denominations, such as the United Congregational Church of Southern Africa(UCCSA) and many others. ENDS
