MultiChoice Botswana is determined to ensure that Botswana gets regional recognition in the entertainment space.

Mokwalo, Buying a Cow and Khumo ya Dinaledi; local films that premiered on DStv’s Mzansi Magic channel last year, put Botswana on the map and emphasised the country’s ability to create stellar content, Multi Choice Botswana managing director, Stephanie Pillay said during the DSTV Sip on Thursday.

She said the films penetrated Mzansi Magic channel, a first for the channel to air non-South African content.

“The films were placed on Mzansi Magic and had incredible high television ratings for the 8pm slot, beating the content that was shared in that slot previously,” said Pillay.

She spoke highly of the quality of the stories and noted that the support of the media made it possible for Multi Choice group to reassess their next step.

The group could not look away, they have shown interest to reinvest in Botswana,” Pillay said and explained that such could not have happened without support from the media.

Meanwhile, Multi Choice Botswana announced a series of entertainment varying from movies, series and sport.

Soon after the FNB Botswana Golden Grand Prix sprints onto Super Sport screens, viewers will experience the Diamond League happening in China on April 26, where Botswana’s finest athletes will be chasing glory, defying limits, and flying the blue, black, and white flag higher.

Still in April on Discovery Channel, DStv will showcase a docuseries: Walking with Elephants, where acclaimed explorer, Levison Wood embarks on a daring 650-mile trek across Botswana, shadowing the world's largest elephant migration on foot.
