Mogoditshane health centre underway

18 Mar 2025

The Ministry of Health plans to construct Mogoditshane health care centre with a bed capacity of 30 under the Transitional National Development Plan 2023-2025.

In response to a parliamentary qquestion recently,  Minister of Health Dr Stephen Modise said the facility would also consists Outpatient Department, an elderly day care centre and maternity unit.

He however said the ministry had further planned to upgrade the facility into a primary hospital in the future as phase two of the project, provided funds permitted.

Dr Modise said the project would be delivered through the Development Manager model, which he said was currently at the design stage.

“It is worth noting that, all DM projects are currently being reviewed” he said.

He further  said the review that commenced mid-January was expected to take a period of 40 days, adding that the ministry would be informed and guided by the outcomes of the review on the way forward.

“Nevertheless, implementation of the project would be subject to availability of funds” he emphasised.

Mogoditshane East legislator, Mr Letlhogonolo Barongwang had asked the Minister of Health if they would consider building a primary hospital in Mogoditshane, under the backdrop that Mogoditshane was the largest village by population and that available health facilities were servicing neighbouring villages.
