Minister of Environment and Tourism, Mr Wynter Mmolotsi says the ministry does not have a specific budget to fund newly established community trusts.
He told Parliament of Wednesday that there were nonetheless a number of funding opportunities to assist trusts, which included National Environmental Fund (NEF), Conservation Trust Fund (CTF) as well as the Global Environmental Facility-Small Grants Programme.
Mr Mmolotsi said the tourism ministry would work with Okavango District to facilitate Itekeng Trust to mobilise financial resources for their operations from the available funding opportunities.
The minister was responding to a question from Okavango East MP, Mr Gabatsholwe Disho who asked the minister when he would consider funding community trust duly registered, but currently struggling. ENDS
