TAFIC assistant coach Thatayaone Sonny says the team should put away the disappointment of letting victory slip from them at a crucial time against Sua Flamingoes on Saturday and focus on the next match.

The Matjimenyenga Boys conceded a stoppage time equaliser in a thrilling 3-3 draw against Flamingoes at Francistown Council Stadium and were leapfrogged at the top of the FNB Premiership table by Township Rollers.

The match kicked off with Flamingoes asserting early pressure and probing TAFIC’s defense in search of an opener, but the hosts held firm, leading to a balanced contest as both teams exchanged attacks.

However, in the 21st minute, TAFIC struck first with a counter-attack from Martin Daka, who skilfully dribbled past defenders to net an opening goal of the match. A minute later, Flamingoes equalised through Goitseone Legopelo, reigniting their hopes in the match. The match continued with both teams tussling, predominantly attacking from the wings.

Less than 10 minutes after equalising, Flamingoes took the lead with a stunning strike from Bame Morwalela in the 32nd minute, making it 2-1 going into halftime.

The second half saw TAFIC mounting pressure to change the score-line. Flamingoes defense worked hard to clear off the TAFIC attacks, but in the 52nd minute, Daka found the net again, scoring his second to level the game at 2-2. The equaliser shifted the momentum in TAFIC’s favour, allowing them to control the game more effectively.

Capitalising on the pressure they had created, TAFIC scored their third goal through a well-placed shot from Kazadi Gauthier, taking a 3-2 lead. With TAFIC on the front foot, they continued to attack Flamingoes from all angles, but the visitors goalkeeper made several crucial saves, denying the hosts more goals.

In stoppage time, the Flamingoes found the back of the net as Samuel Mokgoro scored to level the match 3-3 and secured a one point from the encounter for the visitors.

In a post-match interview, TAFIC assistant coach Sonny expressed disappointment at not securing a win, saying they came looking for maximum points. Despite losing points at a crucial time, he said they took each game as they came adding that they now had to put the disappointment behind them and focus on the next game.

Flamingoes coach, Nikola Kavazovic commended his players for their effort to secure a point and appreciated the good turnout of supporters from both teams, which he said showed that it was a special game. ENDS
