Netballers to show talent

Botswana netballers, Cheludo David and Keletso Gontho, left for Singapore on Monday for an international playing opportunity until March 25.
The Botswana Netball Association (BONA) president, Onkemetse Mpudi, said in an interview that they are happy that the two players were given an opportunity to showcase their talent in Singapore.
She, however, said it was regrettable the national team has overtime failed to compete in international competitions for ranking.
“That alone is a draw back on our side. Players on the other hand are given an opportunity, and expectations are that they will then share the skills they have acquired with the national team and their respective club.
But when was the last time the national team competed?” she asked rhetorically.
Mpudi said the invitation of the two players gives them a ray of hope, adding she is confident that they would represent the country with pride.
Meanwhile a press release from BONA said the invitation to Singapore was a testament to the players’ dedication, discipline, and hard work, as well as the growth of Botswana netball on the international stage.
It said BONA is confident the two players would represent the country with pride and excellence, using this experience to elevate their performance and inspire young athletes back home.
According to the release, David, is a standout player for the Jwaneng Netball Club, and consistently demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication on the court as Goal Shooter.
Her impressive performances in local and regional competitions have earned her this prestigious opportunity to gain international exposure and further refine her game at a higher level.
Furthermore it says Gontho is a key player for BDF Cats, and has demonstrated exceptional talent and versatility, excelling in multiple positions, Wing Defense (WD), Goal Defense (GD), and Center (C).
Her outstanding performances at national, regional, and international levels have earned her this remarkable opportunity to gain international exposure and further develop her game. ENDS
