All employees who were transferred from the district council water units were paid their terminal benefits, Minister for State President Mr Moeti Mohwasa has said.

Answering a question on behalf of the Minister of Local Government and Traditional Affairs in Parliament yesterday, he however said not all of them were absorbed by the Water Utilities Corporation (WUC) as some were transferred to other council departments and others retired during the transition period.

He said everything was done through consultations with relevant unions prior to phased transfer of personnel, assets, budget and other resources such as facilities and equipment.

Mr Mohwasa said the process had been completed and any rising cases would be dealt with by WUC in conjunction with the local government ministry.

Maun West MP Caterpillar Hikuama had asked the minister to explain the process undertaken when Water Units employees were transferred to WUC in 2013.

He wanted to know if all affected employees received their terminal benefits and when the process would be completed. ENDS
