Road alignment project ongoing

19 Feb 2025

The Rasesa-Kgope-Lentsweletau-Mahetlwe-Hatsalatladi-Botlhapatlou-Ngware-Diphuduhudu road alignment project is ongoing under the Development Manager (DM) model, says Assistant Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Mr Keoagile Atamelang.

He said the road covered a distance of approximately 120km. Further, he said review of the DM model was currently ongoing and the outcome of it would guide the government on how implementation of some of the projects would be undertaken.

The assistant minister however clarified that while the ministry did not currently have plans to construct a tarred road connecting Diphuduhudu, Sorilatholo and Salajwe, the Botlhapatlou-Ngware-Diphuduhu section of the road formed part of projects implemented under the Development Manager model.

He therefore said the outcome of the ongoing DM review would provide a clear guidance as to whether the construction of the road would follow the conventional or traditional model or the DM model.

He said in terms of status, the project was currently at concept and development stage.

He further noted that the Ngware-Malwelwe-Letlhakeng, Matlagatse-Mantshwabisi-Malwelwe, Molepolole-Monwane-Serinane and Khudumelapye-Sorilatholo roads were not included in the budget, but their importance could not be over emphasised.

Mr Atamelang assured Parliament that as indicated in the Budget Speech, the modernisation and transformation of infrastructure was a key strategic priority, and the ministry would continue to holistically address infrastructure needs within the limits of the fiscal environment.

He was responding to MP for Letlhakeng, Mr Domcasa Mokgwathi who had asked the minister if there were plans to construct a tarred road connecting villages in Letlhakeng constituency. ENDS
