Tinerman Kwaito - From home studio to award winner

09 Feb 2025

Producing, mastering, and promoting his own music using his home studio and personal equipment, award-winning Kwaito artiste Nehemiah Modise, popularly known as Tinerman Kwaito, has carved a name for himself in the Botswana music scene.

Tinerman began producing and engineering his own music in 2018 at his studio, Home Vibes, and released his first album in 2022. His second album, The Future of BW Kwaito, released in 2023, was a game-changer.

“That album helped me win a BOMU Award, and it’s proof that my hard work is paying off,” he shared.

Despite his success, Tinerman has faced numerous hurdles in his career. He highlighted the struggles of breaking into the industry, revealing that securing bookings for major events as an upcoming artiste was incredibly difficult.

“It’s tough to get recognition from established brands when you’re not in the mainstream media. Financial constraints are also a major challenge. That’s why I’m appealing to the Ministry of Sport and Arts, stakeholders, and individuals to help expand Home Vibes Studio. This will create employment opportunity for sound engineers, producers, and artists in Kanye,” he pleaded.

Tinerman has transformed Home Vibes Studio into a platform for aspiring musicians.

“We produce high-quality music at affordable prices, and many of our songs are played on national radio (RB1),” he assured.

He also offers mentorship and production assistance to upcoming artists.

“Talent alone is not enough, hard work is key to success in the music industry,” he advised.

Winning the BOMU Award in 2023 remains a defining moment in Tinerman’s career.

“That award opened many doors for me and proved my growth in the industry,” he said.

Tinerman has successfully marketed and sold his music, submitted tracks to radio stations, and benefited from COSBOTS royalties three times. His music continues to receive airplay on RB1, further boosting his presence in the industry. Last year, 2024, he performed at major events, sharing the stage with top artistes.

“Performing under big lights, with high-quality sound and huge crowds, at events such as Heyana Music Festival and KFX Music Festival, was a dream come true,” he said.

In 2024, he dropped an EP featuring comedian Moshashodi Mogolo. Now, in 2025, he is planning on an 18-track album.

“My journey proves that Kwaito is alive, and with dedication, we can take it even further,” he stated. ENDS
